A 2nd aspect of the business development process is franchising of local successes for export. With the blessing of the Min of Trade, a previous entity Francaribe SG, conceived in the early '90s is being revived; it was considered "ahead of its time" since the local business culture was not ready for the leap to becoming the regional, far less global players we saw as vital for their development. Having studied the concept Francaribe SG concentrates on sensitizing our indigenous businesses about the benefits of franchising as a growth strategy with proven sustainability for SMEs. Too many Barbadian and Caribbean entrepreneurial innovations and successes have been allowed to die with their founders rather than being seen for their foreign exchange earning potential. |
